Kyle & Barbara Eby
Let us show you the best that Angel Fire has to offer!
Our association with Angel Fire goes back to when Kyle first
moved here in 1982 and got involved in the real estate business and
property management.  The lifestyle and beauty of the area that
drew Kyle here also captivated his future wife when she first visited
here in 1989.  As if by fate we met in 1991 when Kyle sold real
estate to Barbara's parents.  Since marrying in 1991 at the Angel
Fire Country Club we have shared a love for Angel Fire and all of
New Mexico with our son.  We also want to share our love for the
area with our clients, and so on this page you will find our insider
tips, news, things to do and dining recommendations.  Be sure to check
back often for updates!

Our Favorite Things To Do

Dining:

We put dining first because it's one of our favorite things about Angel Fire and New Mexico in general.  There are so many great places that we can't list them all, so here you will find just a sampling of our favorites.

Pizza Stop, Angel Fire:  This is the oldest restaurant in Angel Fire, and for good reason.  The pizza here is known for it's homemade crust.  Also the sandwiches and salads are great, but don't miss our two favorites, the garlic rolls and fried green beans.  Located at 52 N Angel Fire Rd in the same building as our office.  575-377-6340

Yu Garden, Angel Fire:  You will frequently see us dining here, and not just because it is upstairs from our office.  We are so lucky to have chinese food of this caliber here in Angel Fire.  Some of our favorites include the war Wonton Soup (outstanding), the Lo Mein and the Sweet and Sour Pork.  Of course everything here is great, and don't miss the lunch buffet, it's a bargain.  52 N Angel Fire Rd.

Avalons, Angel Fire:  The chef here, Earlene knows her trade.  Everything is homemade and prepared from scratch.  The Quiche is always the very best, and we love her signature soups.  If your in a rush or need a bite for the slopes grab one of her great to go wraps.  Pioneer Plaza, Angel Fire Blvd.

Our Place Cafe, Angel Fire:  This is the place to go if you want a wireless place, comfortable chairs and tables, nice ambience and great food.  That is why you will frequently find us here when we have a business lunch, but anytime is great.  We both love the veggie sandwich and the soups are always terrifiic.  At lunch time don't miss the buffet.  Located in the yellow shopping center behind the Seaton Building on Angel Fire Blvd.

Kaw Lijas, Eagle Nest, New Mexico, 11 miles from Angel Fire you will find one of the best little diners ever.  The Chicken Fried Steak is outstanding, and if you possible have room left try the hand dipped ice cream.  Don't miss the salad bar, it's the best in the area.

If you would like to have your establishment included on our list email us a keby761@gmail.com and we will pop in have a bite and include you. If you have a web site a link swap would be nice also.

Skiing:

Angel Fire Resort  We are a skiing family, Barbara and our son Austin both teach at the Angel Fire ski and snowboard school.  Kyle would like to ski more, but ski season is a busy season.  We all learned how to ski and snowboard in Angel Fire.  It's a great mountain offering the only two high speed quads in the state of New Mexico.  We also boast one of the best terrain parks in the region, and we should as Angel Fire Resort was one of the snowboarding pioneers.  Angel Fire offers terrain for skiers of all abilities and is one on the best vacation values in the Southwest!

Taos Ski Valley  The call of "free Taos" was finally heard last March when Taos Ski Valley opened its historic slopes to snowboards in the spring of 2008.  Now the resort and the town of Taos are enjoying  the first full season of snowboarding in Taos Ski Valley and a projected increase in visitors, especially families. The ski valley is readying for its new visitors with an upgraded terrain park and a Burton Learn To Ride Center.  The rewards are already evident with a 23 percent increase in season ticket sales over last season.

Red River, New Mexico  Red River is our favorite little taste of how ski towns used to be.  The mountain is great, offering some of the most beautiful views in the Enchanted circle and some of the most family friendly terrain anywhere in the Rockies.   In addition to the skiing, Red River offers some of the best Apres Ski Life in the enchanted circle.  Our favorite place to eat is Texas Red's, which is located in the Lodge at Red River.  After a great steak at Red's we walk down the street to Bull of the Woods and dance all night.  In other words Red River is the must destination in the Enchanted Circle.

Things       to do

Buffalo Thunder Resort  On a recent afternoon Barb and decided to stop in here after leaving Santa Fe.  We are not reallly gamblers, but we had heard so much about Buffalo Thunder since it opened last September.  Wow, we were impressed, they have one of the largest collections of indian art in the world.  They also have a Mark Miller restaurant, a great golf course, and of course a large comfortable casino.  On a final note, we ate, gambled and left eighty dolloars ahead.  It is located between Espanola and Santa Fe.

Roadrunner Tours Ltd. Angel Fire, New Mexico  Take a scenic and relaxing horseback trail ride or a horse drawn wagon, sleigh, or carriage ride through the beautiful and peaceful Sangre de Cristo mountain country in the Carson National Forest. Roadrunner tours offers horseback trail rides in addition to beautiful breakfast and dinner rides, wagon rides, carriage rides, and Sleigh Rides in the winter.  They offer Family Overnight Trips with dinner, breakfast and camping gear included. Wilderness Trips with a 3 day minimum are also available with advance reservations.  Ask for Nancy Burch, she is the owner and our good friend!

Los Rios River Runners, Taos, New Mexico  No trip would be complete without a rafting trip by Los Rios.  Founded in 1978. They have led the field in developing river rafting in the Santa Fe and Taos area. Rafting access to the gorgeous river canyons of northern New Mexico is severely limited by the Bureau of Land Management in order to preserve the wilderness. They have more access to more stretches of river than any other company.  For your guide ask for Bruce Graff. Bruce first ran the Taos Box in 1976, and has been a guide with Los Rios for over 20 years. He has held the record for the lowest water descent of the Box, as well as the first descent of the Canadian river in eastern New Mexico. He is an enthusiastic traveler who has visited 37 countries.  Bruce and his wife Dawn are also our very best friends, and two of the most interesting people we know.
